Woodland Heights Recognizes Directors Of The Year

Woodland Heights Medical Center recently awarded Clinical Director of the Year and Non-clinical Director of the year award to two outstanding department managers.

Maria Rojas, Nursing Director for the Medical/Telemetry Unit, was awarded the Clinical Director of the Year Award.  Maria graduated from Angelina College in 1996 as Registered Nurse and began working at Woodland Heights that same year.  She has both telemetry and critical care experience and has been the Director of the Medical/Telemetry Unity since 2009. “I am honored to receive this award, and I am thankful for the opportunity to be in a leadership position where I have learned so much,” states Maria.  “I am grateful for the relationships that I have built over the years with staff in all areas of the hospital.  It is my home away from home! I am also thankful for the members of my team that I am responsible for as they have taught me more than they know.”


Kalvin Buckley

Kalvin Buckley, Director of Information Systems, was awarded the Non-Clinical Director of the Year Award.  Kalvin graduated from Angelina College in 2000 with Dean’s List recognition.  He had many years of experience at Lufkin Industries and Abitibi before coming to Woodland Heights in 2004.  He has been the Information Systems Director since 2012.  “I am very appreciative that my Woodland Heights family has given me this very honorable award,” states Kalvin.  “I am humbled and grateful to be working with such a great team, especially the IS department.”

Misty Boggs
Misty Boggs is the Creative Director at MSGPR. She lives in Angelina County and recently earned her bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a minor in Creative Writing at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2020. She is currently working on obtaining her MBA from Lamar University. Between studying and working, she enjoys teaching her niece and nephew the fine art of never growing old.
