Crown of Thorns Nursery Opens to the Public

CoTN-1For Crown of Thorns Nursery, providing the perfect plan is a ministry of love. Quite literally.

When Rex Lowery put Lowery Wholesale Nursery on the market, Reece and Brenda Hubbard decided it was the perfect time to begin using their passion for plants into action. Now, Crown of Thorns Nursery is open to the public and provides shrubs, ground cover, and colorful blooms for the yard.

“We’ve always had a passion for plants,” said Reese Hubbard, “and we couldn’t be more proud to carry on the concepts that Rex Lowery began with thirty years ago. We want this to be a witness.”

From the boxwood to the rose, the tiny impatiens to the hardy succulents, the Hubbards have filled greenhouses with varieties that will fit any color pallet and any soil variety.

“We carry a lot of East Texas favorites and natives, but we also want to showcase some new varieties, including a cactus not usuallyCoTN-2 found in Texas,” said Hubbard.

To keep those plants growing, Crown of Thorns sells Nelson Color Star fertilizer. “We wanted to carry the highest quality we could, and that’s why we chose this brand. We are the sole carriers for Nelson in this area,” said Hubbard.

The gift shop at Crown of Thorns offers unique bird feeders and houses, quality boutique soaps, and creative gifts for the gardener.

Check out their latest selection on Facebook by clicking here or drop by their nursery 69 North of Lufkin past Idylwood Subdivision and KSWP radio on the left coming from the Loop. Crown of Thorns Nursery is open Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm. And – be sure and mention you saw this in Texas Forest Country Living Magazine!
