A Southern New Year’s Tradition

Whew. We made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas. Days of planning our holiday feast and preparing and cooking have come to a close!

There is one more meal we need to plan for. Growing up in the South black-eyed peas, cabbage, and cornbread were a must for New Years’. It’s a phenomenal way to start off the new year! A tradition that has lived on for years and years, and whether you believe in fate or not, let’s not tempt it! 

Black eyed peas and cabbage both have meanings as to why we eat them on New Years. Black-eyed peas represent good luck for your year and cabbage is for prosperity.
