Angelina College’s Five-Star Phi Theta Kappa chapter officers and members recently attended the 2016 Phi Theta Kappa Regional Honors Conference on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Those attending include Jessica O’Neall, president; Hannah Balle, vice president; and members Meagan Greusell and Yasmin Callaway. Chapter adviser Benetha Jackson accompanied the students and served as one of the seminar facilitators.
Every year the the Phi Theta Kappa chapters meet to study and discuss intellectual themes. Members are then charged with completing a paper based on one of those themes. The research is then developed into a project that impacts their community.
Last year, members researched children’s perception of dinosaurs. The chapter teamed up with the Narranjo Museum of Natural History to provide children at the Buckner Family Place the opportunity to visit the museum.
