179th Houston County & Davy Crockett Days

Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Come out to wish the oldest county in Texas a happy 179th birthday and stay to enjoy Davy Crockett Days. The day will be filled with sites to visit, while honoring our county.

Sunshine Golf Pre-Tournament Party & Sunshine 

Friday, June 10, 6:30 – 10 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Sunshine Golf Tournament is hosted by the Volunteer Services Council to benefit the Lufkin State Supported Living Center.

Crown Colony Country Club and Crown Colony

Tee It Up For Teachers Golf Tournament

Monday, June 13, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Join the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce for the 9th annual Tee It Up For Teachers Golf Tournament on Monday, June 13th. Funds from the tournament provide training opportunities for Angelina County teachers from the county’s six independent school districts.The goal is to work with the public schools in helping secure the additional needed resources for educating local children.

Lunch will be served on the course. Beer, soda and water as well as snacks are available on the course throughout the day.

The day concludes with hors d’oeuvres, golfer awards, and door prize drawings.
Please note that because there will be a full scramble format, team scoring will apply.

Crossroad Baptist Church Submerged Vacation Bible School

Friday, June 10, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Children who have completed K-6th grade are welcome to join this three day long “Submerged” Vacation Bible School. Kids will get to participate in Bible related activities, crafts, music, and more.

Free admission. Registration will be held Friday, but anyone can register early by calling 936-875-2810 any day this week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blueberry Bluegrass Concert In The Park

Friday, June 10, 6-10 p.m.

The concert is free, family friendly, and presented by Rex Perry Autoplex. There will be four bluegrass bands from Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. It is a part of the Texas Blueberry Festival. We’ll have vendors with delicious food and cold drinks.

Free admission. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

27th Annual Texas Blueberry Festival

Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The 27th Annual Texas Blueberry Festival is presented by TIPTON Ford Lincoln. The Texas Blueberry Festival is a day-long celebration of the annual blueberry harvest. As the only state-sanctioned blueberry festival in Texas, this delicious annual event attracts more than 19,000 people to downtown Nacogdoches. It offers a day of blueberry inspired food and drinks, music by several local bands, and more.

SFA Summer Movie Series

Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

The Student Activities Association at Stephen F. Austin State University hosts a Summer Movie Series on Tuesday nights and Wednesday afternoons. While the community is always welcome, the summer is designed for families and children! Join at the Baker Pattillo Student Center 2nd Floor Theater Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 2 p.m. for a show!

Makerspace: Scratch Coding and Games

Thursday, June 9, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Coding isn’t just for computer geeks! Learn the basics of coding with fun and interactive projects. Create and test your own games. Ages 10 years and up. Please register by June 8.

Nacogdoches Chess Club

Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

All skill level and ages welcome. Please bring your board and pieces. We will have an informal time of playing chess and meeting new friends in the process. The Nacogdoches Chess Club meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month.

The meeting room will be open for two hours to give families a respite from the heat! Bring the whole family for board games, Xbox, and Legos. All ages welcome. No registration necessary.

Join us for a creative outlet for grown-ups where we focus on the process of creating instead of the product. Each session will focus on a different project or technique. Ages 18 years & up.
