The Dia de Muertos Fiesta return this year and so does the Calaveras Contest. Calaveras are satirical, rhyming poems that mock death or scoff at the living in such a way that5 suggests they’re dead. These poems are widely popular in Mexico. Calaveras for the contest may be written in English or Spanish and may be submitted by individual youth or individual adults or groups of students less than 17 years. Poems will be judged by a committee and will be featured at the Dia de Muertos Fiesta on November 6th. The deadline to enter is October 12th.
