Construction, Maintenance Updates For Lufkin District

Date:

With summer sunshine allowing the Lufkin District to work on many construction and maintenance projects, motorists are urged to watch for crews working alongside the roadways and be prepared to reduce speed through construction zones.

Many times construction or maintenance work requires a lane to be closed and drivers should remain alert to flaggers, work convoys and lighted signs warning of work ahead.

“Going into summer and while the rain has stopped, our crews are in full swing throughout our nine-county district,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer with the Lufkin District. “Many families are traveling through East Texas on vacation so we want to encourage everyone to be aware of our work zones. Slow down and anticipate slower traffic ahead and also workers near the roadway. We want drivers to obey signs and flaggers who may be directing traffic. Following a few simple common sense rules through a construction or maintenance zone will help everyone have a better chance of arriving safely to their destination.”
