Pre-filing of legislation has started and many Texans, particularly the great citizens of Hardin, Jasper, Newton, Polk, and Tyler counties, are concerned with the dozens of of anti- liberty gun bills. “These bills are disrespectful, immoral, and unconstitutional to freedomloving and law-abiding, Texans from the Sabine to the trans-Pecos; from the Texas Panhandle to the South Texas Plain,” said State Representative James White.
Some of the assaults on Texas liberty include: local government power to regulation your guns and ammunition (HB 238)1; mandating you to store all loaded firearms in a locked container, while rapists, murderers, and rioters are attacking your family and home (HB 185)2; gutting the “Castle Doctrine” by requiring a victim to attempt to retest in the face of an attacker before using
deadly force, except when you are in your home (HB 196)3, just to name a few. “None of these bills address any concerns with mass shootings. They put more law abiding citizens in danger, subject them to civil litigation, and criminal prosecution,” said State Rep. White.
Facing a spike in violent crime, Governor Greg Abbott is providing requested resources to the Dallas Police Department. “With unthoughtful bail bond programs cycling violent felons out of jail and back into our neighborhoods, we need more government focus on the law breakers, not our law abiding Texans,” said State Rep. White. With a GOP-led Legislature, State Rep. White contends that these anti-gun rights bill should not see the light of day. “Instead, I will be joining other freedom-loving legislators in authoring strong firearms rights legislation such as constitutional carry and proposals for the preemption of disastrous federal firearms policies.
