Drug-Free All Stars Meet with Rep. Trent Ashby

Date:

Four Drug-Free All Stars recently met with Representative Trent Ashby to discuss topics of interest for the upcoming 86th Texas legislative session. Riley Latham of Lufkin High School and Jenna Flournoy of Huntington High School presented the dangers of powdered alcohol to Representative Ashby and discussed the problems that could arise if the substance was allowed to be sold in Texas. Kellen Kruk of Pineywoods Community Academy and Alex Sanchez of Diboll High School discussed Tobacco 21, a statewide initiative to raise the sale age of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, to age 21. Since these topics directly affect high school students, the Drug-Free All Stars wanted to share their thoughts with Representative Ashby before the legislative session begins. The Coalition, Inc. would like to thank Representative Ashby for meeting with our All Stars and listening to problems that will affect their futures.

Since 1988, The Coalition has focused on eliminating the use of harmful substances by affecting public policy, laws, attitudes and behaviors, all in an effort to foster healthy life-long choices for the local community. The Drug-Free All Stars are a group of high school seniors throughout Angelina County that are hand selected to serve as role models in their community by living tobacco, drug, and alcohol free.
