Goldberg Machines, the next in a series of Maker events on Thursday, July 16th at 5:00 p.m. “We’re continuing to mold the Maker mindset by creating machines that run on kinetic movement,” says Crystal Hicks, assistant library director. “Household items like funnels, string, rulers, cups and marbles will become cartoon-like contraptions in which each element moves the next in a domino effect.”
This challenging exercise is for tweens and teens aged 10 and above, and it teaches creative engineering and problem-solving skills, as well as patience and discipline. The resulting machines are always fun, but the workshop is focused on process rather than product. Registration for this program is required. Please call 559-2970 to sign up. More Makerspace programs are planned throughout the summer and beyond, so check out the library’s website, www.ci.nacogdoches.tx.us/library, for more information.
