‘Jacks Dominate Wildcats, 81-65

Another game, another dominating SFA Ladyjacks performance. Behind four ‘Jacks in double figures, SFA improved to 3-0 in WAC play behind a dominating 81-65 win over ACU Monday night in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.  

For the second straight game, Aiyana Johnson led the ‘Jacks with 20 points and 10 rebounds picking up her third double-double of the season. Stephanie Visscher followed with 11 points, while Brianna Mitchell and Angel Scott each chipped in 10 points. 

SFA shot 55 percent from the floor and 48 percent from three knocking down 13 shots from behind the arc. The ‘Jacks, who are top 10 in the country in turnovers forced, forced ACU into 24 turnovers resulting in 34 points.

The ‘Jacks opened up the game with a 28-16 first quarter and led by as 17 points following a Johnson layup with 6:31 left to play in the second quarter. ACU trimmed the lead down to 42-34 at the break only to see the ‘Jacks answer, running the lead out to 19 points, 55-36, on a Visscher layup with a 5:20 on the clock in the third. SFA cruises through another fourth quarter before taking the 81-65 win.

The ‘Jacks return to the hardwood Saturday, January 15 at 2 p.m. in the Battle of the Piney Woods with Sam Houston. The game is slated for a Purple Out.
