Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful (KNB) has officially launched registration for #TrashTag Clean-Up Nac challenge. #TrashTag Clean-Up Nac is a community-wide public litter pick up contest.

Many community members have expressed concern regarding litter accumulation in various public places around Nacogdoches. This is everyone’s chance to make a difference!

#TrashTag Clean-Up Nac is a community-wide litter pick up contest that is open to all Nacogdoches County residents. Registration will open at midnight on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 and will close at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2020. The registration link is available on the KNB website (www.keepnacbeautiful.org) as well as the KNB Facebook page (www.facebook.com/keepnacbeautiful) and KNB Instagram (@keepnacbeautiful).

Contestants may register individually or as a group (all groups must demonstrate proper social distancing during pick up as outlined by the CDC).

Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful will supply bags and gloves to all participants as needed.

Supplies will be available via contactless pickup on Friday, May 15, 2020 from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 – 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 8 – 10 a.m. in front of the C.L. Simon Recreation Center (1112 North St., Nacogdoches, TX 75961). Litter collection will begin Saturday, May 16, 2020 and conclude Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Contestants may pick up litter located in a public place of their choosing such as, but not limited to, schools, churches, trails, parks and road right-of-ways.

All litter must be collected in bags provided by KNB; only those bags provided will be eligible for contest submission and disposal.

Additional bags will be provided upon request. Contestant bags will be disposed of in the designated collection roll-off located in the parking lot in front of the C.L. Simon Recreation Center (1112 North St., Nacogdoches, TX 75961).

Contestants must document the weight of their bag(s) prior to disposal. Contestants may choose to use either personal scales, or may use scales provided by KNB at the disposal location during the following times:

Tuesday, May 19 noon – 1 p.m. & 5 – 6 pm.

Friday, May 22 noon – 1 p.m. & 5 – 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 23 3 – 5 p.m.

(times subject to change based on participant activity)

Scales will be properly sanitized by a designated KNB volunteer following each weigh-in.

Contestants will compete in the following categories:

Heaviest Bag, Most Litter Collected, Best Before & After, Most Unique Item Collected and Best Social Distancing Demonstration.

THIS CONTEST IS FOR LITTER PICK UP ON PUBLIC SITES ONLY, NO PRIVATE PROPERTY. VIOLATION OF THIS POLICY WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF ENTRY AND CONTESTANT(S) MAY BE SUBJECT TO FINES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ILLEGAL DUMPING POLICY OF THE CITY OF NACOGDOCHES.
