No 17 Lady Roadrunners Hosting Paris College on Thursday AC Winners in Six of Last Seven Games

The Lady Roadrunners of Angelina College have been on a roll, both on the field and in the polls.

Tuesday’s NJCAA Division I polls saw the Lady ‘Runners climb three spots into the No. 17 position after sweeping No. 18 Bossier Parish Community College last week and splitting a Monday doubleheader against a tough Trinity Valley team in Athens. Since March 10, the Lady Roadrunners have won six of their past seven games; the team is averaging more than 11 runs per game in those wins.

On Thursday, the Lady ‘Runners return home for a doubleheader against Paris College.

Monday’s games in Athens saw AC take a 15-6 win in the opener. Kaylee Ancelot rocked her team-leading eighth home run of the season, finishing with four RBI, and Nikki Whitehead drove in three runs with three hits. Tristin Anders went 4-for-5 with three RBI as well. Shelby Mixon earned the pitching win, and McKenna Fryar earned a save.

Sara Mayes homered in the nightcap, giving her five for the season.

AC (16-6, 3-3) will host Paris College’s Lady Dragons (8-18, 2-6) in a Thursday doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. at the Larry Phillips Family Sports Complex on the Angelina College campus.
