Pineywoods Community Academy Pledge to #BeTheFirst

Date:

On Thursday, November 16, Pineywoods Community Academy SAY WHAT! students celebrated Great American Smokeout Day and encouraged their fellow students to #BeTheFirst, be the first tobacco-free generation. SAY WHAT! stands for Students, Adults and Youth Working Hard Against Tobacco and is a state-wide movement with the goal of unifying the youth of Texas under the common goal of tobacco prevention. SAY WHAT! students conducted the activity to bring awareness to Great American Smokeout Day and help keep their peers from ever using tobacco. Great American Smokeout is a day where smokers across the nation are encouraged to use the date to make a plan to quit, or plan in advance and then quit smoking that day. By quitting – even for 1 day – smokers will be taking an important step toward a healthier life and reducing their cancer risk.
