The businesses of downtown Lufkin are hosting a Spring Fling Friday April 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Various businesses will set up sidewalk sales, great food, contest, a vintage flea market on Saturday, and more throughout the downtown area. Twenty seven businesses are participating in the fling.
This is the first time the event will be called the Spring Fling. It used to be a twice yearly event called Lufkin Antiques Weekend. Laura Koch, owner of Heritage Antiques, began the event for antique store almost a decade ago.
When a larger variety of businesses eventually joined the event they decided to rename it the Spring Fling. However, Lufkin Antiques Weekend is still held in the fall.
This year three businesses downtown will have their grand opening at the Spring Fling.
Anna’s Antiques and Sweet Ethel Mae will be officially open to the public for the first time, and Pickers Paradise will open to the public again after its renovations.
