Unity Baptist Association Funds Four Summer Internships for 2027, and Needs Students and Host Churches

Date:

The Unity Baptist Association has money set aside for four summer interns in 2027, and now it needs the interns — and the churches to put them in.

The association, which works out of an office at 105 Weber St. in Diboll, says it has funded four intern slots for the summer of 2027 and is looking for college-age men and women who want to serve in UBA churches. It is also looking for member churches that would like to host one. Steve Brazzel, the association’s director of missions, is taking names for both. Call (936) 526-2023 or write unityba@gmail.com.

Two trips abroad in 2027

The association has two overseas trips on the books for next year. A vision trip to Leeds, in northern England, runs Feb. 26 through March 4, 2027, working alongside an International Mission Board team there. A second trip goes to Greece May 17-28, 2027, and is open to college-age men ages 18 to 28.

November meetings

A new Church Leader Development team meets for the first time Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. at the UBA office. The Call to Ministry Cohort meets online at 6 p.m. the same day and again Tuesday, Nov. 17. The Associational Council meets Monday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the office. The Texas Baptist Annual Meeting is in Waco Nov. 15-17. The UBA office closes Nov. 25-27 for Thanksgiving.

Churches looking for staff

The association’s current openings run across Angelina and Polk counties. Hillcrest in Lufkin is looking for a pastor on a bivocational basis, and so is Providence in Lufkin. Herty, Chestnut Drive and Lifepoint, all in Lufkin, are looking for music and worship leaders, all bivocational. Fairview and Chestnut Drive in Lufkin need youth leaders, both bivocational; Beacon Bay in Livingston needs one as well. Pine Forest in Livingston is hiring a full-time youth and family minister. Wakefield in Lufkin wants a pianist and Mt. Zion Baptist in Lufkin an organist. Lifepoint is hiring a part-time financial secretary.

Brazzel also keeps a pulpit supply list and says most of the next two months are open on his own calendar if a church needs someone to preach.

The association’s office number is (936) 526-2023. Bonnie Nunn is the ministry assistant.
