New York Fashion Week wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, but it is never too late to keep up with the latest trends. There was a whirlwind of trends that came out of NYFW, but only a handful that would be significant to us here in East Texas.
Colors:
Neon – Neon colors, such as orange and yellow, were in abundance during NYFW. These made most of their appearances in the shows of Christian Siriano, Tory Burch, Victoria Beckham, and Monse.
Khaki/Beige – Colors are being affected with the minimalist trend becoming bigger and bigger. Throughout a series of shows in NYFW, J. Crew, Dion Lee, Yeezy Season 3, and Creatures of the Wind, khaki was a staple.
Wardrobe:
Ruffles – Ruffles are making a return in Spring 2017 and they are coming back in all shapes and sizes.
Floral – It would not be spring without floral prints or embellishments on the runways this season.
Nontraditional Shirts – Something strange is happening to shirts in Spring 2017. Sleeves are being removed, or deconstructed, and the look is quite popular. Models sported the nontraditional shirt up down the runways of Alexander Wang, Monse, and Hood by Air.
Velvet – Who would have thought? Velvet in the spring. Not a bad idea, and apparently Victoria Beckham, Sies Marjan, and Eckhaus Latta think so too, as we saw these looks heavily represented in their shows.
Beauty:
No Makeup – Throughout NYFW, if there was one thing that was a constant, it was the minimalist trend. Models walked the runway with faces free of makeup and some even exaggerating the natural look by adding glossy lids and drawn on freckles.
Natural Hair – To add on to the minimalist trend, designers had their models prance down the runway with hair in the complete natural state. This look was adopted by many designers such as, Zac Posen and Tommy Hilfiger.
Although the looks of New York Fashion Week were intended for spring of next year, it is never too early to get a head start trying out the newest trends. Most of these trends can be worn now while some of the others you will just have to wait until next season to try!
