Work Beginning Between Lufkin and Huntington Angelina County

Date:

LUFKIN – A pre-construction meeting was held Thursday signaling the beginning of a new construction project in the Lufkin District.
Work is scheduled to begin in coming days on US 69 South in Angelina County from just north of FM 841 to 1.2 miles south of FM 1669. The 6.5 mile work area from just outside Lufkin through the city of Huntington will include resurfacing the roadway with an asphalt overlay mixture.
Moore Brothers Construction, Lufkin, will serve as contractor for the $1.5 million project that is expected to be completed by June, weather permitting. The work is designed to preserve the roadway and enhance safety.

As work progresses, motorists are urged to be alert to changing traffic patterns. Obey all traffic control devices, reduce speed and be prepared for delays through the area during peak travel hours. This is an active TxDOT work zone. Motorists are required to move to another lane of travel if there is one available. If there is not another lane available, motorists are required to reduce speed by 20 miles per hour below the speed limit through the work zone.
For more information, contact Rhonda.Oaks@txdot.gov or (936) 633-4395.
