Now the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners are ready to resume conference play at home on Wednesday.

AC ended the first semester on a relatively high note, falling by just two points, 64-62, to the second-ranked Trinity Valley Lady Cardinals. Afterward, head coach Byron Coleman found the team’s glass still half full.

“This is the kind of loss we can turn into a positive,” Coleman said. “We saw how good we can be against good teams, and that could help us out quite a bit over the rest of the season.”

This past weekend, the Lady ‘Runners split their two games at the SAWBC tournament in Waco. LaNeique Nealey dropped in a layup with just one second to play to beat Eastern Oklahoma 66-64 on Saturday, but tired AC legs on Sundaycame up short in a 73-65 loss to Temple.

Those games, Coleman hopes, will be enough to launch his ladies into the final eight weeks of conference play. On Wednesday, AC (9-7, 2-4) will host the Paris Lady Dragons (9-6, 2-3) as both teams look to get back into the Region XIV conference standings race.

Game time for Wednesday’s contest at Shands Gymnasium is 6 p.m. The game will be available for live streaming by visiting roadrunnerslive.com. The coach’s pre-game interview will start at 5:45 p.m.
