In his team’s final non-conference game before league play begins on Thursday, Angelina College head coach Jeff Livin made sure he got looks at plenty of players, especially his young pitching staff.
The team held up well, hanging tough against Alvin College before the Dolphins posted a five-run eighth inning on their way to a 10-4 run over the ‘Runners Tuesday at Roadrunner Field.
Livin used eight pitchers in the game, with Cody Cash, Clayton Hill and Brett Rodgers tossing scoreless innings.
The Dolphins’ Ryan Benevidez drove in four runs with three hits, including a three-run homer. Alan Campero’s three-run shot was part of Alvin’s five-run eighth.
Tucker Redden, Evian Benjamin and Jacob Finke each drove in a run for the Roadrunners.
AC will host its conference opener against Navarro College on Thursday. The single, nine-inning game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
