The Angelina Arts Alliance Board of Directors announces the resignation of its Executive Director Tracy Pinkerton, effective July 29, 2016. Pinkerton began serving the Arts Alliance as the Associate Director in 2009, and took the position of Executive Director in 2013. “It’s been a wonderful experience getting to know so many generous people in this community, and sharing unforgettable performances with them,” stated Tracy. She added “I am grateful for the opportunity to have been associated with an organization that is truly entertaining, enriching, and educating through the performing arts.”
Ellen Temple says, “Tracy has taken the programming for the Arts Alliance series at Temple Theater to a wonderful new level. And most importantly she has reached children and citizens who could not normally afford the shows! In doing so, Tracy has led the effort to honor Buddy’s vision for shows that reach all the citizens of our community. Thank you Tracy for your outstanding leadership and commitment to making the arts available to all!”
Despite personal health challenges which include breast cancer surgery in 2013 and jaw replacement surgery in 2014, Tracy has lead the Arts Alliance for three seasons with her passion for theater, education, and community outreach. “Tracy has been highly successful, with a positive attitude and excitement for her position at all times. She has also been efficient and effective with record-setting seasons for the theater,” observed board member Don Wier.
Tracy attended the prestigious UCLA Film School—her work experience includes three years at the Trinity Broadcasting Network and several award-winning video production companies, as well as running her own advertising agency. With an emphasis in screenwriting, her desire for “telling a great story” leads her back to join her husband Troy part-time in his Lufkin based media and video production business, formerly Flipside Studios which they are renaming Pinkerton Creative. “We are taking a huge leap of faith” Tracy said, “but all the personal challenges lead me to reevaluate my priorities, health goals and values, plus how I spend the majority of my time. I will always love the mission of Angelina Arts Alliance, the performing arts, and the value of arts in education— I’m also excited to return to the art of storytelling; whether it’s about a business, a ministry, legal video, or interviewing family members about their personal journey, I love to get to the heart of the story…and everyone has a story to tell.”
“As only the third Executive Director in the history of the Angelina Arts Alliance, Tracy has been a strong champion for the arts and arts education in our community,” said Board Chair Hilary Haglund Walker. “The Angelina Arts Alliance Board Members are grateful for Tracy’s passionate leadership and we wish her continued success in her new endeavors.”
