Angelina College Athletics Weekly Update

Date:

Hey, sports fans,

Not a lot to report this week, but what we have is pretty awesome, if we may say so ourselves.

This past Friday, Angelina College held its commencement ceremonies, and our Athletics programs saw great representation from every sport. We also received our President’s and Dean’s lists, and again, our Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners showed up for their academic honors.

Athletics Graduates

You’ll receive a complete lists of graduates and other academic honors later this week.

And just so you’ll know, the photos we’re attaching here don’t show all our graduates. These were just the young women and men who were still available for Thursday’s photo session.

In addition, AC Basketball’s Kanaan Holder will head off to Vegas for this weekend’s JUCO All-Star game.

Here’s a quick rundown of the past week’s events, along with what’s coming up next:

Holder Invited to NJCAA All-Star Game

Angelina College’s Kanaan Holder has received an invitation to participate in the upcoming 2025 NJCAA Men’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game presented by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

The game takes place on Saturday, May 17 in Las Vegas.

This will make Holder’s second appearance in a JUCO All-Star game: In the summer of 2024, Holder was selected to participate in the All-American JUCO Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia. The event featured the nation’s Top 100 junior college basketball players.

A Hudson High School alumnus, Holder finished his JUCO career as a member of the Roadrunners’ Elite Eight squad – a group that advanced to the final eight of the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship held in Hutchinson, Kansas this past March.

Following the season, Holder was named to the All-Conference (Honorable Mention) team for Region XIV.

He is the son of Tammy and Tony Holder of Hudson, TX.

AC’s Camp Roadrunner Sessions Set for Summer 2025

Over the past few years, Camp Roadrunner has become a “gotta do” event for youngsters throughout East Texas, with the recreational and youth sports camps drawing bigger crowds every summer.

Following are the dates for each Youth Sports Camp:

Baseball: June 2-5

Soccer: June 9-12; July 7-10

Basketball: June 9-12

Softball: June 9-12

Live Streaming Reminder:

All AC Athletics regular-season home games will be live streamed on TSBN Sports (a free streaming service for fans), with most of the conference road games also available for streaming. (This does not include baseball and softball fall games, as those are not considered official games.)

Once TSBN posts its schedules, AC fans simply need to visit the AC Athletics web site, look at the scrolling schedule in the middle of the page and click the blue “Video” link.

TSBN also offers an app great for smart phones, devices and smart TVs. (You’ve GOT to see those matches and games on the big screen.)

Reminder II: Admission to ALL Angelina College Athletics sporting events is free, as is the TSBN live streaming. Any other links offering streaming are scams.

Reminder III: For the most current schedule updates (especially for potential weather issues) visit the official Angelina College Athletics website (angelinaathletics.com). Fans can also receive updates on the AC Athletics Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), and Instagram pages.

Upcoming schedules: No further games scheduled until August.
