Angelina College Baseball Holding Evaluation Camps for Prospective Players June 2, June 20

Date:

Angelina College Roadrunner baseball coaches will host a pair of evaluation camps this summer at Roadrunner Field on the Angelina College campus.

The first camp will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 2; the second will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20.

This camp is open to all high school graduates, underclassmen or anyone with college eligibility ages 16 and older with an interest in playing baseball for Angelina College. It is not an instructional camp and is for evaluation only; there will be no game played during the camps. Players will be graded on running, arm strength, fielding, hitting and power. Pitchers will throw brief bullpen sessions in order to grade all their pitches and velocity.

There will be a $40 fee for each participant. Coaches ask that players arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the workouts. Those interested can register early (by credit card) through the Angelina College Community services office by calling (936) 633-5206. There will be late registration at 8:30 a.m. on the day of each camp ($40.00, cash or check only) for those who could not pre-register.

AC head coach Jeff Livin will head the camp. He currently boasts four former Roadrunner players on Major League Baseball rosters: Clay Buchholz (Arizona Diamondbacks), Andrew Cashner (Baltimore Orioles), Josh Tomlin (Cleveland Indians) and Jason Gurka (Baltimore Orioles). Several of Livin’s former players also are working their way through the minor league system.

For more information, contact the AC baseball staff at (936) 633-5367, or e-mail jlivin@angelina.edu.
