Angelina College Weekly Athletics Update

Date:

September 5, 2023

Angelina College saw its students and staff return to the classrooms and campus this past week, while also seeing its athletics teams get the new year off to a rousing start.

Both AC soccer teams opened their regular season on the road Friday at Northeast Texas Community College, with the Lady Roadrunners hammering the Lady Eagles 17-0 (that’s not a misprint) and the No. 7 Roadrunners squeezing past NTCC by a 2-0 final.

Both soccer teams will host their home openers on Tuesday against Paris College, with the ladies kicking off at 5 p.m. and the men following at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the matches, AC will host a bevy of kickoff events, including a tailgate party from 3-7 p.m. complete with music, games and prizes, not to mention free hot dogs.

The matches will be live streamed on the AC Athletics YouTube channel (roadrunner_athletics). Admission to all AC Athletics events is free, but those wanting to participate in the tailgating are asked to register through the following link:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1e8W48v6q7Bz-sve306eCVpgaQdaFMFZPDYwplKLUSHk/edit?ts=64f100ef

On Friday, AC’s soccer teams travel to Trinity Valley Community College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Then, on Sunday (Sept. 10), the Lady Roadrunners will host Navarro College in a match scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. at the AC Soccer Complex on the AC campus.

Baseball Starts Fall Ball Season This Week

The Boys of Summer aren’t quite ready to let go of summer yet. The Angelina College baseball team will open its Fall Ball season on Friday, with the Roadrunners hosting Spartan Post Grad at 1 p.m. at Poland Stadium on the AC campus.

The ‘Runners will host a total of six home baseball games between Friday and October 21.

NOTE: Please remember that if AC is streaming a game or match, the information will be included in the original message. Spammers are flooding social media timelines, mostly in the “Comments” sections, so please be wary of any of those posts. All AC events and streaming are free of charge, but the scammers post links asking for credit/debit card information.

Please be aware of those scams.
