Come Rain or Shine–Let the Fishing Begin!

Date:

For all of you fishermen out there, the 22nd annual Dr. Bill Shelton Totally Awesome Fishing Adventure takes place this weekend on beautiful Lake Sam Rayburn – Rain or Shine!   Saturday, March 21, 2015 at

Cassels Boykin Park, Lake Sam Rayburn. The weigh in starts at 1 p.m. and ends promptly at 3 p.m.

The first place winner will receive a guaranteed cash prize of $2,500, based on 90 teams participating. Other cash prizes will be awarded to the top fishermen. All who enter to fish the tournament will be registered for great prizes, including a Gucci watch valued at $1000 donated by Beard Fine Jewelers, 2-$500 gift cards donated by Brookshire Brothers and more.

The fishing tournament began in 1993 by the late Dr. Bill Shelton, a former Lufkin Radiation Oncologist at Memorial Health System of East Texas. While caring for patients at the Arthur Temple Sr. Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Shelton saw a need to help indigent cancer patients who did not have the resources to purchase medications or to even travel to the center for treatment. Over the years, the fishing tournament has raised thousands of dollars to help these patients.
