Commission Approves Safety Projects in Houston and Trinity Counties

The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday awarded a $921,752 safety project to the Lufkin District that is planned in Houston and Trinity counties.
The project scheduled in Houston County on SH 19 from SH 7 in Crockett to 1.6 miles north of FM 231, and in Trinity County on SH 19 from the Houston County line to just south of SH 94. The work will include safety treating fixed objects that will include upgrading culvert ends and improving guardrail to design standards.
The safety treatment from SH 7 to 1.6 miles north of FM 231 was approved for $280,370, and the safety treatment and guardrail improvements from the Houston County line to just south of SH 94 was approved for $641,382. No timeline has been established for project completion.
As this work begins, motorists should stay alert and expect lane closures throughout the project. Motorists should obey all road signs and be aware of traffic delays, warnings and barricades through the work zone. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
