Museum of East Texas Art Camp

May 31-August 19. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 -4 p.m.

The Museum of East Texas offers art camp for students ages 3-14 in a variety of media. Each session of art camp is half a day from Monday to Friday.

Admission is $55, but session scholarships are available.

Use Six Senses with Dementia Patients

Thursday, May 26, from 12-1:30 p.m.

The Hospice of East Texas presents this program to help Alzheimer’s caregivers. Shannon Lutmer will talk about using the “Six” senses and using them well with dementia patients.

Summer Reading Festival

Sunday, May 29 from 1-11 p.m.

Fifteen local bands will be playing to benefit local elementary students and promote local music. There will be many different genres of music present. The event is hosted by Unity 65 Productions.

Admission is one book suitable for an elementary student per person. The books go to the students Carpenter Elementary School.

Memorial Day Balloon Release

Monday, May 30, 9-11 a.m.

This event is a brief ceremony including guest speakers, Civil Air Patrol, and the Heart of the Pines Chorus to honor veterans.
