Entry Ramp at US 69 South/Sl 287 East in Lufkin to be Closed on Monday

Date:

LUFKIN – Motorists will be required to take alternate routes on Monday at the entry ramp of US 69 South and SL 287 East/US 59 in Lufkin.

Crews will be working to mill and inlay the entry ramp with work expected to begin at 8:30 am and conclude at 5 pm. During these hours on Monday, May 21, the ramp will be closed to traffic. Motorists will either have to travel straight on Denman Avenue or turn left at the signal onto SL 287 and travel southbound until they can access an alternate route onto SL 287.

Work on the exit ramp at the same intersection was completed on Thursday and it is now open to traffic.

“For people traveling into town on US 69 needing to access the loop, they will need to choose an alternate route. This entry ramp scheduled for closure is located directly next to Café Del Rio,” said Rhonda Oaks, public spokesperson for the Lufkin District. “This is a heavily traveled intersection and we do expect some congestion during the day. We urge all motorists to reduce their speed as they approach this area and already have in mind the direction they will take when they approach the traffic signal.”

Motorists should be alert to moving equipment and workers in the area. This is an active TxDOT work zone. Be prepared to stop or be directed around the work zone. Obey all signage, signals or flaggers in the area. It is illegal to travel around barrels or cones in a TxDOT work zone.
