Join The Oldest Town In Texas For A Tricentennial Birthday Celebration

Date:

The Oldest Town in Texas, Nacogdoches, is hosting a tricentennial birthday celebration Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom on the SFA campus to celebrate 300 years.

A time of meeting and greeting will be held at 6 p.m., and the dinner and entertainment portion will begin at 7 p.m.

On top of the celebration in November, the Nacogdoches 300 Committee will be hosting many different events and selling merchandise to celebrate “300 years of tradition, family, and community.”

Nacogdoches began in 1716 as the Mission Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe de los NAcogdoches was opened. It was a mission dedicated to serving the Caddo tribe. The actual birthday of the town is celebrated as July, 9, 1716.

The event is hosted by  Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. and the East Texas Historical Association. Coordination and planning is handled by the Nacogdoches 300 Committee and the City of Nacogdoches.

Tickets will go on sale in early October. For more information on this event and the others to come, visit the 300 committee’s website.
