The 15th-ranked Angelina College Lady Roadrunners will host Trinity Valley Community College in a Monday doubleheader with a chance to gain ground on the first-place spot in the Region XIV East Zone standings.
Currently in second place at 11-5 in conference play, the Lady ‘Runners are coming off a sweep at Bossier Parish. AC took down the Lady Cavaliers 8-5 and 13-8 behind the team’s ability to belt the long ball: The Lady Roadrunners bashed seven homers to bring their season total to 57 – good enough for fourth in the nation in the NJCAA’s Division I category.
Freshman Taylor Davis accounted for three of those bombs in the two games. Shay Vegas went deep twice and Jynelle Pangelinan and Kayla Boucher hit one each.
The two wins also stretched AC’s winning streak to five games. AC will also host Paris College on Wednesday.
Game time for Monday’s doubleheader is 1 p.m. Wednesday’s games are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
