SFA A Cappella Choir’s TMEA preview concert closed to public

Date:

A planned Feb. 8 performance by the A Cappella Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University to present the program the ensemble plans to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association annual convention has been closed to the public due to Covid concerns.

Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities for the SFA School of Music, said the decision to close the concert to the public is a precautionary measure as the choir prepares for its performance at the TMEA event in San Antonio Feb. 9 through 12.

The choir was selected for the prestigious honor of performing before the TMEA membership following a competitive round of adjudicated recordings last spring. The program, “We Make More Than Music Here,” will feature works by Francis Poulenc, James MacMillan and Jocelyn Hagen, among other composers.
