SFA Lumberjack, Ladyjack Basketball Hosting Abilene Christian in Pivotal Doubleheader

Date:

January 29, 2020– SFA men’s and women’s basketball are set to match up tonight at home against the Abilene Christian Wildcats in a doubleheader which carries large implications for conference seeding as we near the final stretch of the regular season for college hoops.

The Lumberjacks, winners of their last four and 2-0 on their last road trip to Northwestern State and Lamar, look to maintain sole possession of first place in the Southland Conference against fourth-ranked ACU, who are winners of three of their last four matches (barring a loss at home against Sam Houston), are currently locked in at fourth place and looking to gain ground in the rankings. The Jacks, along with ranking second in the nation in steals per game (10.9), also crack the top 10 in both turnover margin (9th, 5.1) and field goal percentage (7th, 49.2%).

The Ladyjacks (15-3, 8-1 SLC), currently locked in a tie for first in the conference with Sam Houston State, look to hold off ACU (15-2, 7-1 SLC) from taking sole possession of first place. With SFA boasting a scoring margin of 19.7 points per game- good for 13th in the nation- Abilene Christian comes to Nacogdoches looking to challenge the Ladyjacks’ league dominance.

Tickets for the doubleheader can be purchased for six dollars at William R. Johnson Coliseum. The evening will begin with the women’s game at 5:00pm, followed by the men’s at 7:30.
