Nacogdoches Public Library Offers Minecraft Mania And Makerspace Workshop

Date:

The next Minecraft Mania at the Judy B. McDonald Public Library will be Saturday, May 7th at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 p.m.   The first three hours are reserved for ages 7-11 and the last hour is for ages 12-17.

“We have recently updated our Minecraft server,” says Crystal Hicks, assistant library director. “The new server has a larger capacity and improved connectivity. We’re all geared up for more rounds of everyone’s favorite game!”

Those who do not have a game license of their own will be able to use one provided by the library.  Participants may also bring their own laptops if they have a game license.  Please call 559-2970 to register.

The Judy B. McDonald Public Library invites those aged 10 and up to a Makerspace workshop on Monday, May 9th at 5:30 p.m.  Participants will learn the basics of writing code while having fun and creating interactive projects.  The group will also explore how others are coding, including music producers, fashion designers and animators. Please call 559-2970 to register.

The Judy B. McDonald Public Library is thrilled to host the Makerspace program for tweens and teens.  Makers are a collaborative community of all ages who share a passion for making things and who are engaged in experimentation, innovation and creativity.

The Public Library’s Makerspace merges DIY, craft, art, electronics, programming, math, science and engineering into projects for both young people and their mentors.  The goal is to support and grow the Maker movement in the local community through experimental play and hands-on creativity.

The Friends of the Library are on Facebook (as Judy B. McDonald Public Library), Instagram (as @friendsofnacpl) and Twitter (as @friendsofnacpl).
