Angelina College Visual Arts majors will display their works in a fall exhibition opening Tuesday, November 17 and running through December 8 in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery located on the AC campus.
A reception for the artists will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17. Students from Basic Drawing, Basic Design and Painting classes will be exhibiting their works. Teaching ARTS 1316 Basic Drawing is instructor LeAnne Alexander.
Ms. Alexander brings an impressive resume of study and teaching to her work here at AC. She has studied in New York at the Art Students’ League, and completed her MFA at SFASU where she has also taught art. Her artwork has won numerous awards, including Best of Show in the internationally known Texas National Juried Exhibition.
Teaching ARTS 1311 Basic Design is Mrs. Robbie Lacomb Roach. Mrs. Roach has taught at AC for 23 years, and exhibits her prints and photography internationally. Her work may be viewed at lacombroachpress.com. She has recently shown her art at Oxford University in the UK and lectured to art students there.
Students exhibiting from Ms. Alexander’s Basic Drawing class will be showing drawings in various media. This is a course aimed at developing basic drawing and composition skills. The students include Katrina Adkinson, Austin Anderson, Cynthia Bolen, Brianna Cryan, Cherokee Frazier, Dona Gibbs, Jennifer Jackson, Quentin Riley, Roger Servin, Jr., Amie Silva, Joe Silva, Tyler Stanley and Rodrigo Vasquez.
The Basic Design course focuses on students’ compositional skills, paying close attention to the use of the Elements and Principles of Design. Works in various media will be shown. The students exhibiting include Katrina Adkinson, Heather Ellingburg, Hope Gaitan, Sixto Hernandez, Marc Levesque, Hector Lopez, Angel Reyes, Lorenzo Romero, Tyler Stanley and Rodrigo Vasquez.
