No. 10 Tyler Hands AC’s First Loss in Eight Matches
The Angelina College Lady Roadrunners saw their eight-game win streak come to an end, but it took the 10th-ranked team in the nation to issue the loss.
AC hosted No. 10 Tyler Junior College Sunday in the Region XIV Conference Tournament semifinals, and the Lady ‘Runners gave the Lady Apaches all they could handle.
After fighting to a scoreless draw in the first half – thanks to a trio of diving saves from AC goalkeeper Deanna Boon – the Lady Roadrunners saw Tyler score a pair of goals in the second half for a seemingly insurmountable 2-0 lead.

But with just two minutes remaining in the match, AC’s Estephany Aguilar banged home a spectacular goal to give the home team some hope.

Two late charges, however, fell short, and the Lady ‘Runners saw their incredible season come to an end.
AC’s ladies finish the season with an overall record of 11-5 and a Region XIV South Zone championship in head coach Sergio Gardea’s first year at the helm.
