Just 10 months ago, the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners were celebrating their upset of Trinity Valley’s Lady Cardinals, a team ranked No. 2 in the nation at the time. Not only did AC’s win snap the Lady Cards’ 70-game conference winning streak, but it also gave Byron Coleman his first-ever home win over his perennial nemesis.
The two teams will go at it again on Saturday when TVCC visits Shands Gymnasium for the final game of the semester. Once again, the Lady Cardinals enter the game sporting a No. 2 national ranking. Once again, the Lady ‘Runners will be looking for another upset – especially while riding the emotions of Wednesday’s 67-64 win at Kilgore, a win that moved AC to 8-5, 2-3 on the season. Trinity Valley arrives on Saturday with a record of 9-1, 3-0.
Also on Wednesday in Kilgore, the Roadrunner men outlasted No. 24 Kilgore 89-84 in overtime – AC’s second big conference win on a road trip. Corinthian Ramsey poured in 38 points, but it was Trent Brinkley’s offensive rebound and putback with a minute remaining that led to a five-point swing and the eventual win.
The Lady ‘Runner game against Trinity Valley tips off at 4 p.m. The game will be live-streamed, and viewers can catch the action by logging on to roadrunnersLIVE.com.
