Governor Abbott Appoints Eight To Texas Medical Board Including George De Loach, D.O. of Livingston
AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed George De Loach, D.O. to the Texas Medical Board for a for term set to expire on April 13, 2027. Additionally, the Governor appointed Luisa del Rosal to a term to set expire on April 13, 2025. Appointed also was Garry Crain and Zach Jones, M.D. for terms set to expire on April 13, 2027, and appointed Linda Troncoso and reappointed Sharon Barnes, Manuel Quinones, Jr., M.D., and David Vanderweide, M.D., for terms set to expire on April 13, 2029. The Board regulates the practice of medicine in Texas.
George De Loach, D.O. of Livingston is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon serving Polk, San Jacinto, Angelina, Tyler, and Liberty counties. He is a partner of Dedicated Orthopedic Center of East Texas, Chief of Surgery at CHI St. Luke’s Livingston, and an assistant professor at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is president of the Polk- San Jacinto County Medical Society, fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, Texas Orthopedics Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. De Loach received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University (TAMU) and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Luisa del Rosal of Dallas is an entrepreneur and owner of EverLine Coatings Fort Worth Metroplex. Additionally, she is a contributing columnist for The Dallas Morning News and is the Colin Powell teaching fellow and special advisor for the Southern Methodist University (SMU) John Goodwin Tower Center for Public Policy and International Affairs. She is chair of the Communities in Schools Dallas and founding member of the Texas Latino-Jewish Leadership Council. Del Rosal received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master of Higher Education Policy and Leadership from SMU.
Garry Crain of San Marcos is a retired health care administrator with over three decades of experience. He is the former vice chair of the Texas State University System Board of Regents and former member of the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce, Murray State University School of Nursing and Health Professions Advisory Committee, and the Johnson County Memorial Hospital Board. He was named the first distinguished alumnus of the University of Oklahoma Hudson College of Public Health. Crain received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Zach Jones, M.D. of Frisco is a board-certified anesthesiologist with Metropolitan Anesthesia Consultants. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists. Jones received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas (UT) at Austin and a Doctor of Medicine from UT Health Science Center in Houston.
Linda Troncoso of El Paso is the president of TRE and Associates, LLC. She is a member of the El Paso Association of Builders and Paso del Norte Community Foundation and former member of the City of El Paso Zoning Board of Adjustments. Troncoso received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from UT El Paso.
Sharon J. Barnes of Rosharon is the vice president and chief human resources officer for the Stephen F Austin Community Health Network – MyCHN. She is a board member of Habitat for Humanity of Southern Brazoria County and member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County, and the Martin Luther King Celebration Committee of Brazoria County. Additionally, she is former mayor pro temp and councilmember for the City of Lake Jackson, former board secretary of the National Organization For The Professional Advancement Of Black Chemists And Chemical Engineers, and former member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Barnes received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Baylor University and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix.
Manuel Quinones, Jr., M.D. of Helotes is a board-certified family physician with Health Texas Medical Group of San Antonio. He is a member and former president of Bexar County Medical Society, member of the Texas Medical Association, and a clinical faculty member at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, he has served on multiple local community boards including The Witte Museum and American Red Cross and is a Texas Cavalier. Quinones received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Mary’s University and a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine.
David Vanderweide, M.D. of League City is an orthopedic surgeon and president of David G. Vanderweide, M.D., P.A. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society. Additionally, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and an elder at Clear Creek Community Church. Vanderweide received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from TAMU and a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine with a residency in orthopedics.
Guy Davis Golf Tournament Draws Crowd
Event Raises Funds for Angelina College Athletics
The 17th Annual Guy Davis Golf Tournament, hosted by the Roadrunner Foundation, wrapped up on Saturday following Friday evening’s Kickoff Dinner, and the entire weekend proved a success as the biggest fund-raiser for Angelina College Athletics programs.
Nearly 250 golfers hit the links for Saturday’s tournament in support of AC’s student-athletes, with some of those golfers traveling from out of state to keep the date.
With AC athletes working the tournament as scorekeepers, cart drivers, hole monitors and other roles, the event also provided the golfers an opportunity to meet and mix with the Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners. Coach Davis and his wife Dorothy also made appearances at both the dinner and the tournament, where many of the coach’s former players returned for a visit with their mentor.
Saturday’s on-course competition was competitive, as usual, with just one stroke separating the first and second-place teams. Texas Timberjack posted the overall low score of 54 (-18); the team consisted of Marshall Hensley, Reid Hensley, Brandon Williams, Roy Zenor and Steve Bradley.
The “Can’t Handicap” team (Jack Kennedy, Cragg Todd, Ryan Self, Josh Zeleskey and Matt Courtney) carded a 55 (-17); the Joe Hancock Insurance team (Reid Hensley, Chase Luce, Max McCarty, Tyler Sullivan and Jaylon Mark finished with a 14-under 58; the Greenway Carriers, LLC team (Jake Stephens, Mike Terrell, Chris Covarrubias, Greg Stephens and Elijah Terrell) carded a 59 (-13); and teams H&E Equipment (Joey Ray, Clayton Ray, Randy Crawford, Clark Chandler and Michael Johnson) and Double T&S Home (Scott Hinkelman, Micah Montes, Blake Diebold, Zach Weidinger and Randy Lindley) each came in at 12-under (60) to cap off the leaders.
This year’s golfing took place at the Neches Pines Golf Course in Diboll while the usual site – Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin – continues its renovations.

We are officially off and running for the 2024-2025 academics and athletics year at Angelina College.
This past week marked the return to campus for AC athletes and staff, we held the 17th Annual Guy Davis Golf Tournament and Kickoff Banquet over the weekend (with the legendary Coach Davis himself making an appearance) and we gathered our soccer teams for our annual Media Day on Friday (official team photos are attached to this message).
This coming week marks the first week of classes, and on Saturday our Roadrunner soccer team will host its first home scrimmage.
Good thing we’re Roadrunners. Nothing else is fast enough to keep up with all this.

AC Soccer Teams Release 2024 Schedules:
AC’s beautiful soccer complex is about to get busy.
Both the Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners have released their schedules for the upcoming 2024 season, and the teams will combine for at least 12 home dates with at least six home doubleheaders, with more home matches possible according to postseason seedings.

The Lady ‘Runners’ first home match is the regular-season opener scheduled for Friday, August 30 starting at 5 p.m. against Northeast Texas Community College as part of a women’s/men’s home doubleheader.
The men’s first home action features back-to-back pre-season matches against Texas A&M-San Antonio (4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24) and Western Texas (6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27). The ‘Runners kick off their regular season on Friday, August 30 against NTCC.
All AC Soccer regular-season home games will be live streamed on TSBN Sports (a free streaming service for fans), with most of the conference road games also available for streaming.
Once TSBN posts its schedules, AC fans simply need to visit the AC Athletics web site, look at the scrolling schedule on the right and click the blue “Video” link.
TSBN also offers an app great for smart phones, devices and smart TVs. (You’ve GOT to see those matches and games on the big screen.)

Changes, Upgrades Coming to AC Athletics Web Site, Social Media
We’re gonna need a bigger website.
Angelina College Athletics’ official website (www.angelinaathletics.com) and all related social media have been getting much-needed overhauls throughout this summer. Joining our staff are some true website and graphics wizards, and they’re going to help with the redesign and upkeep of all our forms of internet and social media presence going forward.
Our tentative launch date for all the new-look website is mid-September. That’s when we’re hoping to reveal the new website, along with all the revamped (and possibly reborn) social media sites. For now, the “old” website will continue to post information.
In the meantime, we’ll be posting on all those sites to make everyone aware of the coming changes. Some of the current sites need only a little updating, while others may have to disappear completely in order to make room for the new version.
As always, we’ll keep you updated all the way up until the big launch date.
