Roadrunner Baseball Hosting NTCC in Crucial Series

Date:

AC Tied for Fourth Spot in Standings with Six to Play

Any sweep in a series is big, but Angelina College’s three-game sweep of Bossier Parish College last weekend was huge.

The three wins pushed the Roadrunners into a four-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Region XIV East Zone. Record-wise, the Roadrunners are level with Paris College and Bossier Parish, with all three teams sitting at 11-13 in conference play. AC, however, holds a tiebreaker over the Cavaliers.

With just six games remaining on the regular-season schedule, the Roadrunners know they have plenty of work to do. AC will open a three-game series with Northeast Texas Community College on Thursday after Friday’s scheduled game was pushed back because of impending weather. The series’ doubleheader will conclude on Sunday, with game times to be announced.

NTCC’s Eagles have struggled to a 4-20 record in league play, having lost six straight games. The ‘Runners swept NTCC at Mount Pleasant back in March.

AC will then close out the season with a three-game home stand against Paris College starting on Friday, May 6 and concluding that Saturday. Should the Roadrunners take care of business against NTCC, the Paris series could determine which team will head to the tournament.

Game time for Thursday’s game against NTCC is 3 p.m.
