Temporary Detour Scheduled for Repairs

Date:

LUFKIN – Crews have scheduled maintenance on a temporary detour in Nacogdoches County that will cause SH 21 at Atascosa Creek to be closed on Feb. 6.

The SH 21 East temporary road closure is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 7 am, weather permitting, as crews perform maintenance work on the detour pavement. Work is scheduled to be completed by 5 pm. Motorists can detour westbound on FM 95 and eastbound on FM 226 as pavement repairs are made.

The temporary bridge and detour will remain in place until the completion of the proposed bridge and roadway. TxDOT is currently working with the Surety on a Takeover Agreement to select a completion contractor. Although no work is currently being performed on the project by a contractor, TxDOT continues to inspect the project/temporary bridge and make improvements to safety.

Motorists are urged to reduce speed and stay alert through the work zone. Obey all traffic control in the area. Fines double when workers are present. Visit drivetexas.org for updates on road conditions statewide. For more information, contact Rhonda.Oaks@txdot.gov or call (936) 404-7485.
