Alexander To Exhibit Works of Art At Angelina College

Date:

Angelina College is showcasing the works of art instructor Le’Anne Alexander from Oct. 3-24. An opening reception is scheduled for Oct. 4 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the ACA gallery. The exhibition, “Paesaggi” is a series of oil paintings inspired by Alexander’s travels through Italy.

A Lufkin native, Alexander has worked and studied art in New York City as well as at Stephen F. Austin State University, where she finished her Master of Fine Arts degree.

Her paintings have been exhibited in major galleries and universities in the U. S., and have won distinguished awards in juried exhibitions. In recent years she has expanded her scope and created her own mobile art Gallery, the first nonprofit mobile gallery dedicated to education in East Texas.

This summer Alexander traveled to Italy and facilitated Angelina College’s cultural agreement with the arts university, Libera Academia di Belle Arte (LABA), in Florence. She delivered LABA students’ artworks back to them and received our students’ artworks to return them here to AC. LABA’s students’ works were shown here in the AC gallery last fall while AC’s students works were shown in Florence at LABA, marking Angelina College’s first international exchange event.
