Angelina College Students Named to All-State Choir
Three Angelina College choir students recently traveled with AC Chorale Director Beckie Compton to audition for the Texas Two-Year College All-State Choir.
All three students succeeded in their auditions, and now the trio will perform at the upcoming state convention.
Valeria Bonilla (Alto 2), Ada Pierson (Alto 1) and Ruby Hammond (Soprano 2) – each an alumnus of Hudson High School in Lufkin – auditioned at Panola College on Nov. 17, with their competition other students from throughout Region III. Those students audition for positions in a “select ensemble,” according to Compton.
Next up for the vocalists is an appearance as part of the Texas Music Educators Association annual convention held in February in San Antonio, where the students will perform as part of a choir consisting of 130 participants. This year’s clinician/conductor is Karen Kenaston-French, current Professor and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Texas-Arlington.
