Even in a loss to conference foe Northeast Texas Community College, Freddy Drago was quick to point out a positive with his team.
With the game clock ticking down the match’s final five seconds, and with the Angelina College on the wrong end of a 3-0 score, the Lady Roadrunners were still fighting for a final shot even as the buzzer sounded signaling their first defeat in three games.
If there were any examples needed of the team’s overall attitude, those final seconds offered such.
“That’s how our girls are,” Drago said after Saturday’s loss. “They don’t ever quit, they don’t ever give up, even when that goal wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game.”
The Lady Roadrunners (3-3, 1-2) will take a break from conference play on Wednesday and look to resume another winning streak when AC plays host to Brookhaven College out of Dallas. The Lady Bears, part of the NJCAA’s Region V conference, are 2-2 on the season following a 6-0 win over Murray State on Sunday.
Wednesday’s game kicks off at 6 p.m. at Jase Magers Field at Lufkin High School.
