Visscher surpasses 1,000 points as a Ladyjack in Victory

Date:

The SFA Ladyjacks improved to 3-0 Monday night following yet another dominant victory as they took down Southeast Missouri State 83-59 inside William R. Johnson Coliseum. This was the third straight win by 20+ points to open the season.

A quick 8-0 run in the first quarter led by Stephanie Visscher saw the Ladyjacks take an early 12-5 lead and didn’t look back. The ‘Jacks held the visitors to just 9 points in the second quarter to take a 41-25 lead into the break. They then exploded for 28, including 9 from Zya Nugent, in the 3rd to put the game out of reach.

Visscher had her best game of the early season with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists, completing her double-double in just the first half with 13 and 10  in 18 minutes of action. In the process, Visscher surpassed 1,000 total points in a Ladyjack jersey with plenty more to come. She also kept up her stellar defensive play with 4 steals and a block.

The ‘Jacks finished with four players in double-digits, including 13 points from Avery Brittingham and 11 from Zya Nugent

The Ladyjacks outscored their opponents 46-28 in the paint while shooting 46% from the field and holding the visitors to just 30%. Once again the ‘Jacks capitalized on aggressive play, adding 22 points off of 23 forced turnovers.

The ‘Jacks will look to continue their hot start as they take on the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
